So the other day I was thinking about when I was going from elementary/middle school to high school. I grew up reading the
Baby-Sitter’s Club and Sweet Valley High book series. I still have ALL of them! I remember that when the characters were going to high school, dating was one of the topics of discussion. It seemed as if the characters had a date every singleweekend. So silly me, when I started high school I thought that I was going to get dates. Well we all know that NEVER happened! I never got my first date until my Junior/Senior year in college.
Now I am an adult….wow, that is soooo weird to say…and I STILL don’t have dates! I am living a single life. Living single! Not like those FABULOUS women on the sitcom,
see even they had dates on the weekends! *begins singing* We are Living Single. Ooo in a 90’s kind of world I’m glad I got my gurls!!
Now I know that in this day and time being single is such a hard task, but over the last few weeks of participating in this 40 days of fasting and praying I have been able to look at things a lot clearer and to be able to hear the Lord speaking to me! No, I’m not saying that I don’t want the companionship all am saying is that being single is getting a little better to handle. Yes, I do have my moments when I have to call my Mum and have a good cry. And yes, I do pray to the Lord to take the pain away, but with just like EVERYTHING else that goes on in our lives it’s a DAILY struggle.
It’s funny, but I was reading a post about “What the Bible Says About Being Single”, I had to laugh when I got to a certain section discussing how the Bible recommends singleness. 1 Corinthians 7:1-2,8-9 encourages a Christian to remain single, if that person has the gift of celibacy. Now this is NOT a gift that want!! Believe you me, the Lord has given this gift to some just like other gifts, but this is one that I refuse to name and claim.
So, I’ve joined others and *looks around* joined a Christian dating site. Still nothing at this point, but then again I am still on the 40 Days of Fasting and Praying and I have a Daddy who has my best interest at heart. So I am….Living Single and loving and enjoying it!
~Love, Peace and SOOOOOOOUL!!!
