Love…


We are fastly approaching a certain day. What is this day?…Valentine’s Day.  Now, at this moment I am sitting here on my bed.  I should be doing or finishing up this weeks lesson plans, but this video comes on TV on VH1Soul.  The video is my Bobby Valentino “Words” (check it out).  Basically this song is about a guy who is searching for true love.  In the video Bobby V. falls in love with a blind girl that happens to be a ballet dancer.  Anywho…their love ends up being a strong one.

Now, why am I Blogging about love? Well, I am a single person who desires it. This morning around 2 a.m. I received a phone call from my Godsister.  I KNEW that something was wrong. As we began to talk about relationships and love.  I have learned that love is a STRONG and SERIOUS word; a word that should NOT be played with!

As my sister and I continued talking I realized that we as humans have no concept of love.  We say that we love someone and then we turn around and talk crazy to the person or ignore the person.  Then to top it all off we say that we love God, but do we REALLY?! I know that I am talking to myself at the moment.  How can I love God and treat his children, my brothers and sisters, with so much disdain!?  So I will tell you as I told my sister, PRAY! We must pray and ask the Lord to teach us how to love.  We must ask Him to show us how to love ourselves and each other as he loves us!

A few hours after my conversation with my Godsister she called me back.  She stated that she was having her morning devotion and read the following…

“Mostly what God does is love you.  Keep company with him and learn a life of love.  Observe how Christ loved us.  His love was not cautious, but extravagent.  He didn’t love in order to get something from us, but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.”

Now with all that being said, as I sat and watch the music video I started to cry.  I was crying because I felt a tinge of loneliness.  I immediately called my BFF and then my Godsister and this is the wise advice that they gave me.

  1. Valentine’s Day started off as a Pagan Holiday – The Romans celebrated a holiday on February 14th to honor Juno Fructifier, Queen of the Roman gods and goddesses as well as goddess of marriage. In one ritual, women would submit their names to a common box and men would each draw one out. These two would be a couple for the duration of the festival (and at times for the entire following year). Both rituals were designed to promote not only fertility, but also life generally.

2. Love me – This is a time to learn more about myself.  To learn what I want for myself and who I would like in my life.

3. Get my favourite flowers  – Now this one is a hard one.  I have NO idea what my favourite flower is!!  So I was told to research different flowers and their meaning.  Then after the research figure out which one I like the best and go to a flower shop and purchase them.

4.  Get up and get out

5.  Celebrate something that you have accomplished!

Now I have some things that I can do and so do you! So let us all try our best to live this life to the FULLEST!!
